There are two parts in Module 1 assignment: Part A deals with the sources of school law and Part B deals with school governance. A clear appreciation of the source of school law, rules, and regulations and the authority for establishing such expectations is critical to your success as a school administrator and to your understanding of the parameters under which schools and school administrators must operate. In this assignment, you will be asked to use a District Board Policy Manual (nearly all school districts in Texas publish their local policy manual on-line), a campus handbook, or any document found at the Texas Education Agency Website or at the Website of your state education agency if you are from outside the state. In reviewing one of these documents or, if necessary, more than one of these documents, you are asked to identify one example of each of the sources of law: a constitutional directive, a law that gives direction, reference to a judicial case or landmark case that provides guidance, and an example of an administrative rule or guideline.
