This project explores various TCP and UDP topics from Chapter 9 of your textbook. This project has 3 PARTS: Port Numbers, Asset Inventory using Network Analyzers, and IPSec.
ACTIVITIES REQUIRED:
PART 1: Research and explore the use of port numbers in the TCP/IP protocol suite. Some specific things to notice:
What are they used for?
At what layer(s) is this addressing method used?
How are port numbers implemented? Are they universal?
PART 2: Research and explore the use of network analyzers to assist in the creation of your network’s asset inventory.
Describe the need for asset inventory in any network environment.
Download and install Wireshark.
Describe how you can use Wireshark to obtain a listing of the applications running on your network.
PART 3: Research and explore the use of the IPSec protocol.
