Choose two different experiences in which to engage/participate. The experiences are ones in which you are a “cultural insider” and one in which you are a “cultural novice.” Students determine the experience. For example, you may choose to visit a coffee shop, church, community event, etc.
During your visit, you will engage in whatever cultural activity occurring and take detailed notes on the experience. The goal of the project is to understand what it is/means to be a “cultural outsider” and to learn more about the space in which you are already a “cultural insider.”
