Systematic review appraisal assignment instructions: Critical appraisal is the process of systematically examining research evidence to judge its trustworthiness, its value and relevance in a particular context. It allows clinicians to use research evidence reliably and efficiently. Systematic reviews may, or may not, include meta-analysis of the primary random control trials (RCTs) identified. Although systematic reviews of RCTs with meta-analysis are often said to provide the most compelling evidence of effectiveness and causality, not all systematic reviews are of the highest methodological quality.
